Waste tire inspection grant program

Funding is available for local partners to conduct inspections of waste tire facilities (retail tire shops), waste tire haulers and waste tire grant recipients to ensure waste tire laws and regulations are being followed and to identify illegal waste tire sites. Our goal is to have a local partner for these types of inspections in every county in the state.

Who is eligible: law enforcement agencies, local health agencies, code enforcement agencies and any other applicable local governmental agencies.

Onsite training, inspection checklists and handout materials will be provided. Local partners will be able to set their own inspection schedules based on their individual workloads. We will assist in determining the number of sites within the local partner's jurisdiction.

Funding and length of the contract are negotiable. Local partners will also:
  • Provide monthly and annual reporting.
  • Attend training.
  • Provide education and community outreach on the proper management of waste tires.
