The Board promulgates rules related to Colorado public health, approves funding for public health grant programs, appoints members to specific department committees and advises the executive director as appropriate.

Members
The composition of the board is governed by statute, Section 25-1-103, C.R.S. The statute requires a representative from each congressional district (noted below member names) and two at-large members. One member must also be a county commissioner. Statute requires no more than five members from a single political party participate on the board. The executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment may serve as an ex officio member. After statutory requirements are met, we look for subject matter expertise and diversity a person can bring to the board. We value race, ethnic, age and gender diversity.We also value inclusion of persons with disabilities, rural and urban representation, and representation of community partners such as government, community based organizations, business, advocacy organizations and citizens.
