The Colorado Lead Coalition works to reduce childhood lead poisoning in Colorado. The coalition is made up of federal, state and local organizations, both public and private. The coalition works with any group interested in helping to address lead poisoning-related issues in the state.
Childhood lead poisoning is the No. 1 preventable environmental health threat to children in the United States. The Colorado Lead Coalition developed a statewide lead poisoning elimination plan focused on three areas:

Identify children who are at risk of lead poisoning, test those children and initiate action.

Educate parents and the public at large about the risks of lead poisoning and the role we each play in preventing it.

Identify and control sources of lead in our environment.
This plan includes goals, objectives and strategies to prevent childhood lead poisoning.
The coalition meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Anyone interested in learning about the Colorado Lead Coalition and helping to eliminate childhood lead poisoning is welcome to attend a coalition meeting. Group stakeholders include representatives from local, state and federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, environmental organizations and firms, health care providers and
members of the public.
